9.7.1 Facility buildings

a. Requirements for facility buildings

RTS facility buildings such as on-line electric sub-station, OCC, relay building, and other electrical and mechanical installations shall comply fully with the Code of Practice for Fire Precautions in Buildings, except as herein modified.

b. Facility buildings attached to trainways:

(1) Where facility buildings located under the above ground trainways, adjacent building within 6m of the outer edges of the aboveground trainway shall be at least 2-hrs compartmented, and.

(2) Automatic fire alarm system shall be provided in accordance with SS 645. The fire alarm system shall be connected to the OCC.

(3) Electrical transformer room in facility buildings can be located underground according to Cl.9.8.

(4) Where cable chambers and service ducts/ spaces have a headroom less than 2m, its means of escape shall be designed in accordance with Cl.2.2.4e., and Cl.8.1.7f. of this Code. 

(5) Fire protection provisions shall comply with Cl.6.1.2a., Cl.6.2.2b.(2), Cl.6.2.5a., Cl.6.3.1b.(1), Cl.6.3.1b.(3), Cl.6.3.3e., Cl.6.4.1d., Cl.6.4.2c., Cl.6.4.4c. and Table 6.4A of this Code.

(6) Fresh/ exhaust air of the facility buildings can be taken from/ discharged to the intake/ exhaust air shaft in accordance with Cl.7.1.16 of this Code.

(7)   Dual electric feeder power supply in accordance with Cl.5.2.6 of this Code is deemed to have been provided with primary and secondary source of power supplies.
