- An HFAD provides early warning of a fire. It is mandatory for new residential premises and existing residential premises carrying out fire safety works to install HFADs.

Each ventilation sleeve shall have a 6mm thick stainless steel fragmentation plate mounted on the external face using 8mm stainless steel bolts. See FIGURE 4.4(a) and (b).
