At 1759hrs, SCDF received calls informing that a cement truck had toppled into a canal in front of Block 513, Hougang Ave 10. Upon receiving the notification, 1 Fire Engine, 1 Red Rhino, 1 DART (HRT), 1 Ambulance and 1 Support Appliance were despatched to the incident location.
On arrival, the crew found a cement truck landed on its right side, inside the canal which was about 3 " 4 meter deep and about 15 meter wide.
As a result, the driver, a male Chinese / about 40 years old was found trapped with his head pinned between the seat and the partly crushed driver"s cabin roof. SCDF rescuers went into the canal via ladders and extricated the victim by cutting open and widening the rear panel and the roof of the driver"s cabin by using hydraulic powered tools.
