SCDF Parade 2019

December 16, 2019

On 23 November 2019, the SCDF Parade was jointly held with the Singapore-Global Firefighters and Paramedics Challenge (SGFPC) at the Singapore Expo Convention Hall. The SCDF Parade highlighted the development and importance of Civil Defence in Singapore. It also provides a platform to recognize the contributions of our partners and the community in furthering the cause of civil defence. Graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Home Affairs, this event signifies the pride and commitment of SCDF personnel to the Force and its lifesaving mission.

The parade featured two Guard-of-Honour contingents, formed by officers from SCDF Headquarters and 3rd SCDF Division, and a Flag Party comprising the flags of our SCDF units. They are joined by marching contingents from the other SCDF Divisions, Civil Defence Academy, National Service Training Institute, Marine Division, Operationally Ready National Service (ORNS) Unit, CD Lionhearters and National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC).

Speaking at the SCDF Parade and SGFPC, Mrs Teo said that the SCDF requires the community to step forward during an emergency to help save lives.

“Transformation is important in light of our ageing population. Medical needs will rise, straining our emergency medical services, while SCDF increasingly faces manpower constraints. SCDF will need to do more with less,” she noted, drawing relevance to the theme of this year’s event: “A Nation of Lifesavers: Transforming as One”.

In addition, she said that SCDF will provide Community First Responders with personal accident insurance coverage by mid-December 2019 to ensure they are well taken care of.
