Community Driven Exercises

The SCDF"s 4 Division Headquarters conduct a total of 48 Community Exercises annually i.e. 12 per division per year. This community exercise, known as the Emergency Preparedness Day (EP Day), serves as a platform to practice the grassroots volunteers and the residents on how to mobilize their resources and deal with large scale emergencies within their neighbourhood. Since the 911 incidents, the format for the exercise has been revised to incorporate an anti-terrorism segment that allows the residents to appreciate first-hand the readiness of SCDF and other Home Team agencies, as well as volunteers, in handling unconventional threats such as a chemical incident, instead of the scenario of a military conflict.

Community Driven Exercises

Through such exercises, the residents will also have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the decontamination procedure and be sensitized to the newly introduced In-Place Protection (IPP) procedure. The residents will also get hands-on experience on how to carry out the correct IPP procedures on the IPP training simulators.
