News Release

13 February 2023
Island-Wide Sounding of the Public Warning System (PWS) Sirens on 15 February 2023 at 6:20 P.M.

In support of Total Defence (TD) Day, SCDF will be sounding the “Important Message” signal through the island-wide network of Public Warning System (PWS) sirens on Wednesday, 15 February 2023 at 6:20 p.m. to remind us that we need to stand resilient and do our part to protect Singapore and our future. Do not be alarmed by the minute-long sounding exercise..

The signal will also sound for smartphones that have the SGSecure mobile app downloaded and are not on silent or vibration mode. The signal will automatically cease after 20 seconds.

When you hear the “Important Message” signal, tune in immediately to any local radio station or free-to-air TV channel for a brief message on the PWS. A message will also appear on the smartphones via the SGSecure mobile app. If you miss the message, visit go.gov.sg/pws to know more about the PWS signals.

To prevent any undue public alarm, we seek your assistance to carry the above information in your news bulletins to remind the public on the sounding.
