Fire Safety Tips for “Qing Ming” Festival - 22 March 2019

Religious activities like the burning of incense paper and lighting candles/joss sticks are expected to increase during the “Qing Ming” festival which will culminate on 5 April 2019. The SCDF would like to remind members of the public to observe the following fire safety tips:

For public housing estates, always burn incense papers in the incense burners or metal containers provided by the Town Councils. Private residential owners are also encouraged to use incense paper burners.

The burners or containers should be placed on sturdy ground and at a safe distance away from combustible materials and residential premises.

Ensure that smouldering incense and embers are completely extinguished before leaving.

Avoid placing burning joss sticks or candles on grass patches or fields.

Fire safety is our collective responsibility and together we can help to reduce fire occurrences in Singapore.
