Unit Fire at Blk 543 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10

At 2151hrs, SCDF received a call informing that there was a fire in a 6th floor unit at Blk 543 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10. SCDF resources which included 1 Fire Engine, 1 Red Rhino, 1 Support Appliance & 1 ambulance were immediately deployed.

On arrival, the crew saw black smoke coming out of the unit. SCDF firefighters immediately donned breathing apparatus sets and conducted forcible entry by breaking the padlock to the gate and prising open the main door. The fire involved contents of the living room and was extinguished swiftly. Simultaneously, the firefighters conducted a search within the unit and found 2 casualties inside one of the bedrooms, a Chinese boy and a Chinese girl, with no pulse and breathing. They immediately performed CPR but were unable to resuscitate the casualties.


While SCDF was conducting fire fighting operations in the affected unit, a 39-year-old male Chinese was reported to have fallen from the 12th floor of the same block and landed onto the ground. He sustained multiple injuries and was attended by the paramedics immediately. He was then conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
