Two Road Traffic Accidents

On Thursday, 09 November 2006 at about 3.35am, the SCDF was alerted to a road traffic accident involving a car along Turf Club Avenue, towards BKE. One fire engine, two fire bikes, one ambulance and one support appliance was despatched to the incident location and arrived within 4 minutes.

The car was fully engulfed in flames, with the driver still trapped in the vehicle, when the SCDF arrived. Fire fighting operations was carried out using one water jet and 2 impulse guns and the flames were extinguished in 10 minutes.

As a result of this incident, the driver of the car, a male of unknown age and race, was pronounced dead by SCDF Paramedic.

Another road traffic accident also occurred at about 6.40am along the AYE, towards Jurong, after West Coast Road exit. The SCDF despatched two ambulances to the incident which involved a car that crashed into the railing. As a result of the accident, one female Malay (19 years old) was pronounced dead at the incident site.

Three others were conveyed to National University Hospital. The details of their injuries as follows:

i) Male Malay " abrasion and pain to hospital
ii) Male Malay " pelvis pain and fracture to right thigh
iii) Male Indian " lower back pain
