Sounding of SCDF Chime to Signify Pledge Moment on National Day

As part of celebrations for our nation"s 49th birthday, Singaporeans locally and overseas are encouraged to participate in the Pledge Moment on National Day in an expression of our love for and commitment to Singapore.

On Saturday, 9 Aug 2014, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will sound a 20-second "chime" through its island-wide network of Public Warning System (PWS) sirens at about 8pm to signify the Pledge Moment. A rehearsal will be conducted for the observance of the Pledge Moment on Saturday, 2 Aug 2014. As part of this rehearsal, the SCDF will be sounding the "chime" through its PWS sirens at about 8pm on 2 Aug 2014.

Regardless of location, Singaporeans are encouraged to join in to recite the Pledge and sing the National Anthem when the chime is sounded.
