Shop Fire at Bangkit Road

On 20th Jan 2006 at about 0128 hrs, SCDF was alerted to a fire incident at Block 260, Bangkit Road. 2 fire bikes, 2 fire engines, 2 Red Rhinos, and 2 support appliances were dispatched by SCDF to mitigate the situation.

SCDF arrived at the incident site within 6 minutes. The fire was found to involve 6 shops at Blk 260, including a provision shop, a grocery shop, a mini mart, a towel shop, a hair dressing saloon and a mattress shop.

SCDF deployed 4 jets and 1 water monitor to fight the fire which was brought under control within 45 minutes. Contents of the 6 shops and storages outside the units (including shelves and containers) along the corridor were destroyed by the fire. The tentage erected over the walkway in front of Blk 260 was also affected by the blaze.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus who penetrated the affected units to conduct search and rescue operation at the 6 shops did not find any casualty as a result of the fire.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
