SCDF Operation Lionheart 55-Member Contingent Deployed to Christchurch, New Zealand : Update No 8

The New Zealand government has made a request (through their Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade), for the SCDF Ops Lionheart contingent to stay until next Sunday, 13 March 2011, to assist with the recovery operations.

SCDF has accepted the request and 33 members of the 55-team contingent (including the Contingent Commander, LTC Ling Kok Yong) will remain to assist with the recovery operations. 22 members are scheduled to return to Singapore this Sunday, 6 March 2011 (estimated time of arrival is 1725hrs).

Since their arrival, the team has carried out operations at a total of 43 sites.
