Notice of Exercise Northstar 9 at Singapore Sports Hub

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and several other agencies will be conducting Exercise Northstar 9 at the Singapore Sports Hub, including Kallang Wave Mall and Stadium MRT Station on Saturday, 9 May 2015. The exercise will begin at 1230hrs and end around 1500hrs.

Exercise Northstar is a series of exercises introduced since 1997 to test and validate a multi-agency emergency response to a major incident. The exercise also serves to raise awareness of the Whole-of-Government response framework that has been put in place to safeguard Singapore"s national security. In total, about 600 personnel and 60 emergency and supporting vehicles will be participating in the exercise. During the exercise, fire simulation with loud explosions, smoke and the firing of blanks, will be used. All operational vehicles participating in the exercise will have their beacon lights turned on to alert motorists. Exercise signage will also be placed within the exercise vicinity to alert members of the public of the exercise and the public is advised not to be alarmed.
