At 1438hrs, SCDF received a call from a member of public informing that there was a fire at the above-mentioned location; and SCDF resources were immediately despatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the SCDF Officers found smoke issuing from a storage tank (containing tar) measuring 2 metres in diameter and 3 metres in height located outdoors within the compound. SCDF deployed 2 water jets to cool the tank.
SCDF rescuers spotted 1 male worker (age unknown) lying 1 metre away from the storage tank. The worker sustained head injuries and neck fracture. He was pronounced dead by SCDF paramedics.
There were no other casualties reported. Investigation into the cause of the fire is on-going.
