Fire at Blk 413, Hougang Ave 10

SCDF was alerted to a fire on the 6th floor of Block 413, Hougang Avenue 10 at 3.23pm. SCDF resources which included 2 Fire Engines, 1 Red Rhino, 1 Supporting Vehicle and 1 Ambulance arrived within 4 minutes and personnel conducted forcible entry into the unit. The fire was near the kitchen window, involved newspapers and kitchen products (e.g. liquid detergents) and measured approximately 1m by 2m. SCDF doused the fire using 1 water jet.

A lady was pronounced dead on arrival by SCDF paramedic on the ground floor, directly beneath the kitchen window. SCDF personnel also found the kitchen gas stove left in an "on" position and there were no cooking on the stove.

The cause of fire is under investigation. The case has been handed over to the police.
