Crisis Management Conference 2016

The Singapore Civil Defence Force hosted the Crisis Management Conference (CMC) 2016 on 11 Nov 2016 (Friday) at the Singapore Expo. CMC 2016 was graced by guest-of-honour, Mr Desmond Lee, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs and National Development who delivered a speech.

CMC is an annual event, organised by the Network for Crisis Management1. The conference has been hosted by different member cities since its inaugural run in 2003 with Singapore hosting the 4th CMC in 2006. Last year, the event was held in Tokyo, Japan from 13 - 14 Oct 2015.

CMC provides a platform for member cities of the network to share experiences and know-how on crisis management and build a crisis management network to facilitate exchange of information during emergencies.

The theme for CMC 2016 is Transformation and Innovation in Emergency Management. Ten speakers shared how cities can leverage on technology and innovations for disaster and emergency management and revising modus operandi to improve existing operational capabilities. Also discussed was how close partnerships with the private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the community can enhance the coordination of resources during disasters.

Crisis Management Conference 2017 will be held in Seoul.
