If you have been following SCDF on its social media platforms, you might have seen some of these captivating videos. At the heart of these productions resides the creativity and passion of SCDF's Media Production Unit (MPU).
Comprising an energetic, dynamic, and passionate team of three officers and full-time National Servicemen (NSF), the MPU strives to produce quality content for SCDF’s social media platforms, including many in-house video productions produced each year. With their expertise in videography and storytelling, the team makes it fun for the public to learn more about emergency preparedness and SCDF’s Lifesaving mission.
Mr Mohammad Masri Abdul Rahman is the Senior Creative Producer. Apart from overseeing and managing all in-house productions, he can be seen encouraging and challenging his team to think of new, creative, and exciting ways to tell the SCDF story.
“I am glad to have a team that consists mostly of NSFs because they bring so much energy, creativity and exciting ideas, and this helps me stay current with the everchanging trends and technology in photography, videography and storytelling,” said Masri.
Representing his fellow NSFs in MPU, Corporal (CPL) Wesley Agustian, a Multimedia Specialist, shared more on what gives the team satisfaction and fulfilment at work.
“Our team of NSFs may come from different backgrounds and have different skills, but we come together as one and contribute our varied expertise towards SCDF’s in-house productions,” said Wesley. “For example, those of us who are responsible for archival in MPU will manage all the photos and video footage, because these are the fruits of everyone’s hard work, and we want to ensure that it is properly documented and stored to facilitate easy retrieval for future reference and use.”
Rescue995 presents our exclusive interview with Mr Masri, as he shows us how a little creativity and passion from the MPU team brings SCDF’s in-house productions to fruition, from ideation, conception and to completion.
