Fire, Emergency Medical Services and Fire Safety Enforcement Statistics 2020
05 February 2021

The total number of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) calls decreased in 2020 for the first time in 20 years. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to 190,882 EMS calls last year, or about 520 calls a day. There was also a significant decrease of 16.1% and 14.1% in the number of non-emergency calls and false alarm calls respectively.

The number of fire incidents decreased by 34.4% in 2020. While the number of fires involving all types of active mobility device decreased, the number of fires involving power assisted bicycles doubled. SCDF will continue to work closely with its partners and stakeholders to raise awareness on preventing such fires.

SCDF conducted 9,833 fire safety enforcement checks in 2020 and issued 1,560 Notices of Fire Safety Offences (NFSO) and 2,213 Fire Hazard Abatement Notices (FHAN). SCDF encourages the public to report any fire safety hazards that they come across.
