Station With Immediate First Aid Treatment (SWIFT)

http://s-one.internet.gov.sg/mha_scdf/SWIFT.WMV

In the event of a mass casualty incident, we can rely on the SWIFT to minimize first wave casualty loss. Aptly named 'Station With Immediate First Aid Treatment', the SWIFT is a specialized vehicle that could be deployed within 5 minutes to the incident site, as opposed to the current practice of setting up tents. Manned by paramedics and the Medical Platoon, SWIFT will be able to provide state-of-the-art medical support while serving as a monitoring centre for the casualties too.

Light Fire Attack Vehicle (Red Rhino)

http://s-one.internet.gov.sg/mha_scdf/LFAV.WMV

Why must fire engines be so big and bulky? Designing against the stereotypical image of fire engines, a sleek and all-terrain Fire Attack Vehicle (Red Rhino) was developed. Today, the Red Rhino is operational at all our fire stations as well as fire posts. The project has enabled our fire-fighters to reach into places such as warehouse interiors where no traditional fire engines have gone before, taking our fire fighting capability to a whole new level.

Watermist Gun

http://s-one.internet.gov.sg/mha_scdf/WMS.WMV

The Watermist Gun has proven its efficiency by being fully deployed at many fires around Singapore. The gun works by spraying the water out into a fine mist instead of spurting a jet of water as a conventional hose does. This project by Cpt Winston Chang and his team not only saves water, but can also put out a fire faster by reducing its oxygen supply.

Dry Decontamination Vacuum Oven

http://s-one.internet.gov.sg/mha_scdf/DDVO.WMV

The Dry Decontamination Vacuum Oven (DDVO) is a radical departure from our current mode of operations. Prior to the DDVO, personal belongings are only rendered safe from traces of chemical contaminants before they are returned to their rightful owners; the items’ working conditions were not of chief concern. The primary objective in decontamination then was to ensure that personal belongings are not contaminated so as to prevent spreading of chemical contaminants.

Quick Coupling Device

http://s-one.internet.gov.sg/mha_scdf/QCD.WMV

The Quick coupling device is made up of a 3-way connection T-joint and a customized Quick Release Coupling Device. The device will be installed at utility ducts located along the common corridor of all future housing developments. Installed prior to the unit meter, water supply can be tapped easily by simply connecting the customized coupling device directly to the T-joint to supply fire fighting water for the water mist gun system.

Hazmat Mobile Scrubber Vehicle

http://s-one.internet.gov.sg/mha_scdf/HMSV.WMV

The Hazmat Mobile Scrubber Vehicle is developed as part of the national effort to enhance the Hazmat response capability of SCDF, especially in the scope of mitigation of toxic release. SCDF is among the first fire and emergency response services in the world to make use of the leading edge technology to build such a vehicle. The vehicle is designed for rapid deployment to site for confinement and removal of up to 3.5 metric tones of hazardous vapour up to 60 minutes. With most of the toxicity removed from the contaminated air, the impact on the environment and public exposure to such hazardous vapours will be minimised.

Fire Bike

http://s-one.internet.gov.sg/mha_scdf/Firebike.wmv

Time is critical to firefighting operations as fires may spread very fast, especially for high-rise residential fires in Singapore. With traffic congestion, fire engines may be delayed to reach the fire incident.

In 1998, the fire bike concept was launched to tackle the problem of congestion. The fire bike team consists of two firefighters equipped with impulse guns, which can fire powerful bursts of water mist at up to 200 metres per second.

Fast Response Paramedic

http://s-one.internet.gov.sg/mha_scdf/Fast_Response_Para.wmv

Fast Response Paramedics are basically paramedics on bikes. Ambulance response time is frequently compromised when traffic jams or peak hour traffic is encountered. In light of this problem, the Force implemented the FRP Scheme to provide a quicker way of reaching not only road accidents, but also patients in their homes.
