Fire Emergency Plan (FEP) is a plan that states the step-by-step procedures for the occupants and building management to follow in the event of a fire emergency. Under the Fire Safety Act 1993, it is a statutory requirement for certain designated categories of premises to formulate a FEP. Evacuation drills will have to be conducted in such premises to test the effectiveness of such emergency plans. SCDF will issue the guidelines on how to draw up a FEP. Building owners or occupiers will have to formulate their own plans to suit their own premises and ensure that all occupants, including the tenants, are informed of such plans and evacuation procedures that they have to follow. The plans will not be subjected to any vetting or approval by the SCDF.
