Fire involving acetylene cylinders along the side road beside a construction site off Central Boulevard, leading to Marina Way

At 1441 hrs, SCDF was alerted to a fire involving acetylene cylinders along a side road beside a construction site off Central Boulevard, which is leading to Marina Way.

Upon arrival, SCDF officers found 3 racks containing a total of 18 acetylene cylinders which had fallen onto the road from a moving lorry. As a result of the impact from the accident, 5 of the acetylene cylinders had ruptured resulting in a fire. SCDF immediately set up 2 water jets and the fire was brought under control within 10 minutes. No one was injured in the incident.
