"OPERATION LION HEART" (CHINA EARTHQUAKE)
SCDF Rescue Contingent continues operations at Hongbai Town - Situation Update 6

The SCDF Lion Heart Contingent to China, continued their search operation today. They were deployed to Shi Zi Ping Shi, a precinct with a population of 1,000 at 0825hrs this morning (Singapore time). Upon the team’s arrival at the precinct 20 minutes later, the villagers informed that all persons were accounted for, thus rescue operations were not required at the area. The team returned to the operations base.

At 0900hrs (Singapore time), a search team led by LTC Francis Ng trekked about 6km north of the operations base, along a railway track to a valley that was affected by a massive landslide. Here, the team assisted to construct a makeshift link bridge and assisted 3 locals to safety.

As a mark of respect to the victims of the earthquake, the contingent observed 3 minutes of silence at 1428hrs (Singapore time).

The contingent remains at Hongbai town.
