Rescue involving a worker trapped in a cat ladder of a tower crane

At 0923hrs, SCDF received a call that a worker was trapped in a cat ladder of a tower crane at a construction site at No. 39 West Coast Park Road.

SCDF resources consisting of 1 Fire engine, 1 Red Rhino, 1 Support Appliance, 1 Ambulance and DART Team were immediately dispatched to No. 39 West Coast Park Road, Construction Site. On arrival, the crew found that there was an unconscious male worker, approximately 50 years old, trapped on the 14th level of the tower crane. SCDF responders immediately deployed safety belt to secure him and subsequently, lowered him using a hoisting rescue device.

The casualty was pronounced dead by SCDF paramedic at 11 am.
