SCDF was alerted to a fire incident at Blk 308, Clementi Avenue 4 at about 5:15 am this morning. One fire engine, one Red Rhino, two Fire Bikes, three support appliances and an ambulance were immediately despatched to the incident location. SCDF personnel arrived at scene in four minutes and found smoke issuing from a provision shop on the ground floor. SCDF personnel gained access into the premises by conducting forcible entry at the rear gate of the premises. The fire, which was confined to a small area inside the shop unit involved sundry items and was swiftly bought under control within 5 minutes. Search operations were simultaneously carried out in the shop unit. SCDF personnel rescued one male Chinese found in the shop unit. He suffered smoke inhalation and was conveyed by SCDF’s ambulance to NUH. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
