| On Tuesday, 13th Nov 2007 at about 13:50pm, the SCDF was alerted to an industrial incident at 28 Defu Lane 4. SCDF responded to the incident with 1 Ambulance, 1 Fast Response Paramedic (FRP) and 1 fire engine. Upon arrival at the incident site, SCDF found that the legs of a male worker had been crushed by a newspaper compactor. As a result, his left leg was amputated below the knee and right foot crushed. The casualty was not trapped and SCDF paramedics carried out immediate treatment and subsequently conveyed the casualty to Changi General Hospital (CGH). SCDF fire fighter had to comb through the pile of newspaper to retrieve
the detached portion of the leg. It was soon found and conveyed to CGH
by FRP (on motorbike). The whole operation lasted 15 minutes. |
