History: |
Previously at Upper Paya Lebar Road, the building was a Police Station way back in the 1930s. SCDF established it as the HQ for the 3rd CD Division in 1988 to provide operational coverage for the northern parts of Singapore. |
Current Facts: |
The present HQ 3rd CD Division re-located to its new premises, a five-storey building at Yishun Industrial Park A together with Yishun Fire Station (to replace Sembawang Fire Station) to better
serve the needs of the community in the northern and central regions of Singapore.
In addition, an underground purpose built Command Post will also enhance the operational command and control capability of the Division HQ. This new unit also serves as the Operational Base for one NS Rescue Battalion and its Emergency Stores.

Interesting Facts: |
It is currently the largest fire station in Singapore with a gross floor area of 7,000 m2, is equipped with HAZMAT capability to handle incidents involving hazardous materials. It is also the first station to employ a water conservation system where water used during drills is diverted to a pump well for recycling purposes. |
